Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a robust docket of complex labor and employment litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Serve as first chair counsel in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies like the DLSE, FEHC, and EEOC.
  • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure high-quality case outcomes.
  • Cultivate and maintain enduring client relationships while spearheading business development initiatives to grow the practice.
  • Partner with firm leadership to drive strategic initiatives, including hiring, marketing, and practice expansion in the employment litigation space.
  • Stay abreast of legislative changes, such as AB5, Prop 22, and recent PAGA amendments, to provide cutting-edge counsel.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • 10+ years of specialized experience in employment litigation, with proven success defending class actions, PAGA representative actions, wage and hour collective actions, discrimination/harassment suits, and wrongful termination cases.
  • Demonstrated first-chair experience in trials and appeals in California state and federal courts.
  • Strong supervisory skills with a track record of mentoring associates and staff.
  • Excellent business development acumen, including an existing book of business preferred.
  • Superior communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Commitment to a collaborative, client-focused culture.

Experience with e-discovery tools, case management software, and familiarity with Sacramento's bench and bar is highly desirable.
