Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day will encompass the full lifecycle of patent litigation:

• Strategizing case theories and leading all phases from pleadings to trial and appeals.
• Performing exhaustive legal research on claim construction, invalidity, and infringement using tools like PACER, Westlaw, and LexisNexis.
• Drafting persuasive motions, oppositions, reply briefs, and expert reports.
• Managing e-discovery, document productions, and taking/ defending expert and fact witness depositions.
• Arguing motions in Markman hearings, summary judgment, and trials.
• Collaborating with in-house counsel and C-suite executives to provide strategic IP advice.
• Analyzing technical patents in electrical engineering, software, life sciences, and more.
• Contributing to firm publications, seminars, and client development initiatives.

This role demands precision, creativity, and resilience in fast-paced, bet-the-company disputes.

Required Qualifications

To excel, candidates should possess:

• A Juris Doctor from a top-tier law school (T14 preferred).
• Active Minnesota bar membership or immediate eligibility.
• 3-6 years of substantive patent litigation experience at a reputable firm.
• Technical undergraduate degree (B.S. in EE, CS, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Mechanical Engineering) highly valued.
• Demonstrated excellence in legal writing and oral advocacy.
• Experience with PTAB proceedings (IPR, PGR) a plus.
• Team player mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
