Your primary responsibility will be processing payroll for client employees, ensuring timely and accurate payments. This includes calculating wages, deductions, and benefits, as well as handling direct deposits and manual checks. You'll maintain the employee database, updating records for salary changes, new hires, terminations, and promotions to keep data current and reliable.
Stay ahead of federal, state, and local tax and wage laws, including Idaho-specific regulations. Prepare and file payroll taxes, generate W-2s and 1099s, and conduct audits to prevent compliance issues. Your strong knowledge of fiscal procedures will be essential in mitigating risks and ensuring legal adherence.
Manage the company's payroll budget by tracking expenses, forecasting costs, and identifying variances. Collaborate with finance teams to align payroll with overall financial goals. Propose and implement system improvements, such as automating processes or integrating new software, to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
Work closely with HR, accounting, and management to resolve payroll discrepancies, answer employee inquiries, and support special projects like mergers or benefit enrollments. Your ability to communicate effectively will drive payroll service performance across the organization.
Robert Half seeks candidates with proven payroll experience, ideally 2+ years in a similar role. A high school diploma is required, with an associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business preferred. Familiarity with payroll software like ADP, Paychex, or QuickBooks is a must.
