Key Responsibilities
Core Payroll Processing
- Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees, ensuring 100% accuracy in calculations.
- Review timesheets, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and other earnings to validate data integrity.
Compliance and Auditing
- Monitor adherence to federal (FLSA, IRS), state (NY Labor Law), and local payroll regulations, staying updated on changes like minimum wage adjustments or tax law reforms.
- Audit payroll runs pre- and post-processing to identify and correct discrepancies before finalization.
Reporting and Reconciliation
- Reconcile payroll data with general ledger, benefits, and tax withholdings, partnering with Finance teams for resolution.
- Prepare and file quarterly/annual tax reports, including W-2s, 1099s, and unemployment filings.
Employee Support and Improvements
- Respond to employee inquiries via phone, email, or in-person, resolving issues with empathy and professionalism.
- Maintain secure, audit-ready payroll records using systems like ADP, Paychex, or UKG.
- Identify automation opportunities and contribute to payroll process enhancements for greater efficiency.
Required Qualifications

- 2+ years in payroll processing, preferably in a multi-state or corporate environment.
