Key Responsibilities

Strategic Payroll Leadership: Direct end-to-end payroll operations including time & attendance integration, wage calculations, deductions, garnishments, and disbursements for 4,000+ employees across multiple states. Ensure bi-monthly payroll closes with zero defects.

Workday Optimization: Serve as the Workday Payroll subject matter expert, configuring modules, developing custom reports, and leading system upgrades to maximize automation and user adoption.

Compliance Mastery: Maintain 100% compliance with federal (FLSA, FMLA), state, and local regulations. Manage tax withholding, unemployment reporting, and year-end processes including W-2, 1099, and ACA reporting.

Team Development: Build, coach, and mentor a high-performing payroll team through training programs, performance management, and career development initiatives.

Issue Resolution & Process Improvement: Investigate and resolve complex payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and audit findings. Implement continuous improvement initiatives leveraging data analytics and best practices.

Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with HR on benefits integration, Finance on GL reconciliation, and IT on system integrations to align payroll with broader organizational objectives.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 7+ years in payroll with 3+ years in supervisory/management roles. Proven success managing high-volume, multi-state payroll operations (1,000+ employees). Direct Workday Payroll implementation experience required.

Technical Expertise: Advanced Workday certification preferred. Deep knowledge of payroll tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions. Experience with UKG, ADP, or Ceridian a plus.

Education & Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or HR. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or FPC required; SHRM-CP/SCP preferred.

Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, manage change, and drive team performance in deadline-driven environments. Strong analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
