Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review comprehensive monthly financial statements and management reports for assigned properties, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analyses.
  • Execute month-end close processes, including posting journal entries, performing bank reconciliations, vendor reconciliations, and accrual calculations to ensure timely closes.
  • Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) workflows, processing invoices, tenant payments, and security deposits with precision and speed.
  • Leverage advanced proficiency in Yardi Voyager and QuickBooks Online for general ledger maintenance, variance analysis, and custom reporting.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and rolling forecasts, collaborating with property managers to align financial plans with operational goals.
  • Ensure full compliance with GAAP, GAAP standards, and local tax regulations, including property tax filings and sales tax reporting.
  • Track and report on construction in progress (CIP) accounting, capitalizing expenses and monitoring project budgets for development initiatives.
  • Partner with property management, leasing, and maintenance teams to deliver actionable financial insights that drive occupancy, revenue growth, and cost efficiencies.
  • Maintain the general ledger with meticulous attention to detail, resolving discrepancies and supporting intercompany transactions.
  • Prepare documentation and serve as a key liaison during internal and external audits, ensuring smooth processes and zero findings.

Required Qualifications

To excel in this Property Accountant role, candidates must demonstrate:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in property accounting, real estate finance, or multifamily/commercial property management accounting.
