Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day will involve a comprehensive suite of critical accounting tasks tailored to real estate operations:

  • Oversee the full monthly close process, preparing detailed reporting packages for assigned properties, including bank reconciliations for all accounts, cash balance reports, accruals schedules, and management fee calculations.
  • Develop roll forwards and closing support schedules for balance sheet accounts with activity, ensuring precision in revenue recognition such as straight-line rent, percentage rent, and other income streams.
  • Conduct trial balance reviews and flux analysis to identify variances and maintain financial accuracy.
  • Post essential Yardi entries and elimination entries to facilitate seamless closings.
  • Prepare monthly investor reporting, including cash positions and hotel operations financials where applicable, alongside quarterly investor templates, debt reporting, and asset management updates.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual lender reporting requirements, culminating in annual audit support by compiling PBC (Prepared By Client) items and addressing auditor queries.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, scrutinizing budgets from Asset Management and Property Management teams, and perform cash projections for quarterly distributions and monthly capital calls.
  • Collaborate with Construction Accounting to forecast upcoming cash needs, recommend capital calls, and record related journal entries.

Required Qualifications

To excel in this Senior Accountant position, candidates must demonstrate:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with CPA certification preferred.
  • At least 5-7 years of progressive experience in senior accounting roles, ideally within real estate, property management, or investment firms.
  • Advanced proficiency in Yardi Voyager or comparable property management accounting software, coupled with strong Excel skills for modeling and analysis.
  • Proven track record in financial statement consolidation, account reconciliation, cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
