Key Responsibilities

As Senior Fund Accountant, you'll drive critical financial operations for private funds, hedge funds, or similar vehicles. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Preparing detailed fund financial reporting packages, encompassing capital calls, partner distributions, performance fees, and intricate waterfall calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Supporting efficient quarterly fund closes, precise net asset value (NAV) computations, and compilation of annual audited financial statements.
  • Reviewing fund governing documents and coordinating closely with external fund administrators, custodians, and other third-party providers to maintain seamless operations.
  • Assisting in year-end audits, preparing tax filings (e.g., K-1s, Form 1065), and fulfilling ad-hoc limited partner (LP) reporting requests with speed and precision.
  • Generating comprehensive fund-level and investment performance reports, including IRR calculations, time-weighted returns, and benchmark comparisons for investor communications.
  • Managing all cash activities, including accounts payable/receivable processing, bank and custody reconciliations, and coordination of funding wires and transfers.
  • Proactively identifying bottlenecks and implementing process improvements, such as automation via Excel macros, VBA, or fund software like Investran or Allvue.

Required Qualifications for Success

To excel in this Senior Fund Accountant role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline; CPA, CAIA, or CFA certification is a plus.
  • 3-5+ years of progressive fund accounting experience within investment management, private equity, venture capital, or hedge funds.
  • Deep technical proficiency in fund accounting principles, including waterfalls, carried interest, and side pockets.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling); experience with Yardi, Advent, or similar platforms highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in audit coordination, tax return preparation, and investor reporting under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration with portfolio managers, operations teams, and external partners.
  • Familiarity with GAAP/IFRS, SEC regulations, and common fund structures.

Prior experience in the Bay Area's competitive investment landscape is advantageous but not required—Robert Half prioritizes talent and fit.
