Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supporting comprehensive month-end close processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of financial reporting cycles.
  • Preparing and meticulously reviewing trial balances to maintain financial integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintaining and updating the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring proper classification, segmentation, and reporting structures.
  • Performing detailed account reconciliations for bank statements, intercompany transactions, and other critical accounts.
  • Preparing and posting accurate journal entries to reflect all financial activity correctly.
  • Compiling detailed financial statements and insightful management reports for stakeholder review.
  • Managing fixed asset schedules, including tracking acquisitions, disposals, and calculating depreciation using appropriate methodologies.
  • Providing robust audit support by preparing comprehensive documentation and responding effectively to auditor inquiries.
  • Conducting thorough variance analysis and creating ad hoc reports to drive informed business decisions.
  • Assisting in budget preparation and performing monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis to support financial planning.

Required Qualifications for Senior Accountant

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in consulting, corporate accounting, or public accounting environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or QuickBooks, along with advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).
  • CPA certification strongly preferred; CMA or other relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience leading month-end closes, reconciliations, and audit processes.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to identify variances, investigate discrepancies, and recommend solutions.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, and auditors.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in deadline-driven settings with minimal supervision.
