Key Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Perform detailed analysis and reconciliation of account balances, including general ledger accounts, bank statements, and various sub-ledgers to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements, management reports, and ensure full compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate closely with property managers, operations teams, and finance departments to review and approve budgets, financial forecasts, variance analyses, and detailed expense reports.
  • Manage end-to-end accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions, including invoice processing, vendor payments, tenant billing, and collections to maintain healthy cash flow.
  • Assist in audit preparation by compiling documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and implementing recommendations to strengthen internal controls.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiency gains by leveraging advanced technology solutions such as Yardi, MRI, or other property management software.
  • Support ad-hoc projects, including system implementations, cost-saving initiatives, and strategic financial planning to drive organizational growth.

Required Qualifications

To succeed in this Senior Accountant position, candidates must bring a proven track record in property management accounting or similar real estate finance roles. Key qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in property management, real estate, or multi-entity environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance specific to property management.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems like Yardi Voyager, MRI Software, QuickBooks, or NetSuite, with experience in data migration and reporting tools such as Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros).
