About the Sr. Operations Accountant Role

Key Responsibilities

Core Accounting and Allocation Duties

• Perform precise monthly allocations for gas plant volumes, ensuring accurate distribution of production data across stakeholders. Generate comprehensive customer invoices and prepare detailed financial reports that support strategic decision-making.

• Monitor producer volume commitments meticulously, issuing billing adjustments for shortages or shortfalls to safeguard revenue integrity.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Compliance

• Build and maintain robust relationships with external customers by promptly addressing inquiries and providing timely, accurate information that fosters trust and long-term partnerships.

• Collaborate closely with commercial teams, field operations, Gas Plant Operations, and Gas Measurement groups to develop a thorough understanding of gas processing contracts, workflows, and data flows.

• Respond swiftly to internal and external audit requests, compiling and delivering supporting documentation to ensure seamless compliance.

Process Optimization and Month-End Support

• Ensure unwavering compliance with documented processes, organizational policies, and regulatory standards while maintaining impeccable documentation for all activities.

• Proactively identify and implement process improvements that boost efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance the overall accuracy of accounting operations in natural gas and NGL sectors.

• Provide essential support during month-end close, executing journal entries, updating the general ledger, performing account reconciliations, and managing cost and expense allocations.

Required Qualifications

To excel as our Sr. Operations Accountant, candidates must possess:

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred).
• At least 5-7 years of progressive experience in operations accounting, with specific expertise in gas plant operations, natural gas, or energy sector accounting.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and financial software used in volume allocation and invoicing.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex datasets for accuracy in volume commitments, allocations, and financial reporting.
• Exceptional communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Proven track record in audit support, month-end closes, and process improvement initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of gas processing contracts, NGL operations, and industry compliance standards.
