Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve comprehensive tax workpapers and tax returns for partnerships, LLCs, and other entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Oversee state tax risk analysis delivered by external firms, providing critical oversight and recommendations to mitigate exposure.
  • Assist in the meticulous review of partnership tax returns for portfolio entities, identifying opportunities for optimization and compliance.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of quarterly and annual tax estimate workpapers, supporting precise forecasting and provision calculations.
  • Manage and coordinate relationships with outsourced tax service providers, ensuring seamless delivery of services and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Support investor distributions by rigorously ensuring compliance with tax withholding requirements, including FATCA and backup withholding rules.
  • Maintain and update partner information databases for accurate reporting, withholding calculations, and K-1 issuance.
  • Monitor project timelines using advanced tracking tools, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Collect, organize, and review documentation to substantiate tax filings, calculations, and positions taken on returns.
  • Analyze complex legal agreements, including partnership agreements, contribution documents, and distribution schedules, to determine tax implications for contributions, distributions, allocations, and reporting items.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external inquiries regarding tax reporting, positions, and compliance matters.
  • Undertake additional projects and special tasks, such as tax research, process improvements, and ad-hoc modeling, contributing to the evolution of the tax function.

Required Qualifications for Tax Manager

To succeed in this Tax Manager role, candidates must demonstrate strong expertise in partnership taxation and alternative investment structures. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field is required, with a CPA certification strongly preferred.
