We're looking for a Director & Associate General Counsel, Regulatory to join our Legal team. This role is a key part of Robinhood’s legal leadership and will function as a hands-on legal advisor while also managing a small team of attorneys. The ideal candidate will serve as a strategic partner across several regulated business areas and key verticals including banking and credit products, investment advisory, asset management, and brokerage services.

This is a high-impact role for a legal leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can think across multiple regulatory frameworks, and is passionate about building and mentoring legal talent.

This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA, New York, NY, or Washington, DC office(s), with in-person attendance expected at least 4 days per week.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and manage a team of product and regulatory attorneys supporting multiple areas of Robinhood’s business.
  • Provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice to cross-functional teams on a broad range of regulatory issues, including banking, credit, investment advisory, asset management, brokerage and corporate strategy.
  • Partner closely with compliance, product, operations, and executive leadership to identify legal risks and drive mitigation strategies.
  • Support regulatory engagement and examinations as needed.
  • Help build scalable legal processes and frameworks to support a rapidly evolving financial technology company.
  • Mentor and grow team members while promoting a strong culture of collaboration, accountability, and inclusion.

What you bring

  • J.D. and membership in at least one U.S. state bar in good standing.
  • 12+ years of relevant legal experience, with a strong background in financial regulatory law across multiple areas such as banking, credit, investment advisory, asset management , or broker-dealer regulation.
  • Experience managing legal professionals or cross-functional teams, with a track record of developing talent and delivering results.
  • Ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory issues while delivering clear, actionable guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth, and highly regulated environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a business-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly develop fluency in new substantive areas and effectively lead and collaborate with team members who bring deep subject-matter expertise.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones.
