Join us in building the future of finance.

About the team + role

We are building an elite team, applying frontier technologies to the world’s biggest financial problems. We’re looking for bold thinkers. Sharp problem-solvers. Builders who are wired to make an impact. Robinhood isn’t a place for complacency, it’s where ambitious people do the best work of their careers. We’re a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything we do. Expectations are high, and so are the rewards.

The Tokenization Engine team’s mission is to bring both public and private equity to be tradable 24/7 in the Robinhood app and on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) across leading blockchains. The team works at the intersection of blockchain technology, financial systems, and modern infrastructure — with a focus on accessibility, security, and scalability. We’re passionate about reimagining the future of equity markets and building the infrastructure to power it!

As a Staff Software Developer, you will work on Robinhood’s tokenization engine, collaborating across six external teams—including trading engine, equity metadata, user portfolio, equity market data, and crypto custody. You’ll design and scale distributed systems to power the future of asset trading.

The role is located in our Toronto, ON office which will align with our in-office working environment. Please connect with your recruiter for more information regarding our in-office philosophy and expectations.

What you’ll do

  • Build scalable systems and components, balancing stability and long-term maintainability.

  • Design, implement, test, and release critical technical solutions with high engineering standards.

  • Lead projects of large complexity and mentor junior developers within the team.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver technically sound and high-impact work.

  • Continuously identify ways to improve system performance, reduce risk, and boost team efficiency.

What you bring

  • 10+ years of software development experience in a high-paced environment.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with low-latency, large-scale distributed systems.

  • Strong proficiency in Go or Python, with excellent problem-solving and production debugging skills.

  • Deep ownership mindset and experience building and operating large-scale systems end-to-end.

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working across teams.

  • Proven experience mentoring junior developers and leading technical initiatives.
