FASHION ASSISTANT I (TREND FORECASTER) - NEW YORK CITY BUYING OFFICE

About this opportunity ....

The Fashion Assistant I will be responsible for supporting a Director in the NYC Fashion Office in providing support and trend direction to the buying teams, as well as completing research and making recommendations to drive sales through sales analysis and market research/comp shopping, in partnership with supervisor.

The base salary for this role is $68,000. The salary listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.

What you will do and what you will learn....
  • Assist Director in pulling together seasonal trend and color presentations for all relevant meetings (trend reports and seasonal forecasts). Help create trend and color information as directed, utilizing trend forecasting services and social media to collect relative research.
  • Analyze reports to identify trends to track and common denominators across businesses. Identify what is working and what is not working.
  • Read and understand sales reports, highlighting findings to supervisor.
  • Comp/Trend Shop to put together trend reports based on findings. Distribute trend reports to the Fashion Office on a weekly or bi-weekly basis and regularly shop Ross stores to make recommendations to the assortment.
  • Attend and prepare for Style-outs and Best Seller Meetings. Attend select Style-out meetings, as directed by supervisor.
  • Serve as Fashion Office representative where applicable.
  • Attend market appointments with Ross team where applicable.
  • Coordinate samples and style outfits for Marketing requests.

  • Great eye for overall fashion/trend/color.
  • Ability to pull together information from multiple sources including retail websites and social media for presentations.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Interest in learning Ross systems and reports.
  • Ability to build relationships with Ross merchants at the Buyer and Assistant levels.
  • An innate sense of curiosity.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Strong presentation and organizational skills. An eye for design/layouts.
  • Ability to build relationships with the market and fashion services.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
