RSM is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Excise and Energy Credits Tax Intern to join our team in Minneapolis for the Summer of 2027. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of tax specialty areas while working alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment.
As an Excise and Energy Credits Tax Intern, you will be an integral part of a team that focuses on a wide range of tax areas. You will have the opportunity to contribute to projects involving accounting for income taxes, accounting methods and periods, corporate taxation, federal credits and incentives, individual taxation, mergers and acquisitions, pass-through entity taxation, private client services, and not-for-profit organizations. Your responsibilities will include completing tax planning and research, preparing federal and state & local tax returns, and understanding tax regulations and accounting pronouncements.

To be eligible for the internship, you must have completed at least 90 credit hours, be working towards a B.A. / B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university with an accounting major, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA (preferred).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, the ability to work effectively on a team, and the ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment are all important skills for this role.
Travel to assigned client locations is required. You must have access to and the ability to arrange for use of reliable modes of transportation to those locations.
You will be working on a team that focuses on a wide range of tax specialty areas including accounting for income taxes, accounting methods and periods, corporate taxation, federal credits and incentives, individual taxation, mergers and acquisitions, pass-through entity taxation, private client services, and not for profit organizations.
Typical responsibilities include completing tax planning and research, preparing federal and state & local tax returns, and understanding tax regulations and accounting pronouncements.
Many of our interns receive offers for full-time positions upon graduation, based on performance and business needs.
