Role Overview

As a Tax Manager in our Credits, Incentives, & Methods (CIM) group, specifically within the Tax Accounting Methods & Periods (AMP) team, you will play a pivotal role in providing advisory services to our clients. This role focuses on two core concepts: your technical and quality expertise and delivering excellent client service. You will be responsible for managing AMP projects, conducting technical reviews, and providing guidance to team members.

A Day in the Life

Your day-to-day activities will include:

  • Identifying, project managing, and performing initial technical reviews of AMP projects, supported by Washington National Tax office (WNT) AMP specialists.
  • Managing the delivery of AMP projects, including calculation of 481(a) adjustments and impact on tax provisions/reserves.
  • Understanding financial accounting (GAAP; IFRS) and current financial accounting pronouncements.
  • Researching and writing tax advice, opinion, and position memorandums.
  • Drafting and reviewing technical memoranda, legal basis disclosures, responses to IRS inquiries, and IRS Ruling requests.
  • Identifying and pursuing AMP services for existing and prospective clients.
  • Building rapport with Senior Managers and Partners.
  • Collaborating with RSM’s Growth Acceleration Teams to identify and pursue AMP services.
  • Building cross-team and cross-line-of-business relationships and identifying service areas in conjunction with RSM’s Enterprise Account Leaders.
  • Training, mentoring, developing, and growing AMP professionals.
