Since search is the entry point for most commerce shoppers, we play a critical role in our customers’ success.We are a collaborative team that strives for quality in product, software engineering best practices, and focus on impact. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join a new team in helping building out and scale our Search platform.Responsibilities/DutiesLead feature development throughout the software lifecycle: gather requirements, design, build, test, and deployHelp scale our search services which need to support low latency and high throughputHave experience with reliably delivering high-quality, distributed, testable, and scalable softwareMentor others in development technologies, tools, and processesPresent your own designs to internal/external groups and review designs of othersDevelop test strategies, design automation frameworks, write unit/functional tests to drive up code coverage and automation metricsService ownership operate the service, improve supportability, and help resolve customer issuesImprove developer productivity through tooling and software engineering best practicesParticipate in the team’s on-call rotation to address sophisticated problems in real-time and keep services operational and highly availableSkills and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.A good understanding of object-oriented programming and experience in at least one object-oriented programming language, e.g. Java, C++.At least 12 years of object oriented programming experienceExperience using Git / GitHubExperience in automated testing including unit and functional testing using Java, JUnit, JSUnit, SeleniumPrevious experience with SaaS developmentTeam player, get-it-done attitude and quick learnerUnderstanding of Agile/Scrum methodologiesExperience with Search technologies like Lucene, Elasticsearch, Solr is a huge plus!Experience working on building Search Platforms/features is a huge plus!
