Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or Baccalaureate degree (Associate’s or Nursing Degree if training prior to 1994) (experience)
  • Completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) (experience)
  • Demonstrated current competence and provision of care, treatment, or services for at least 30 patients in the past twelve months or completion of an ARC-PA approved program in the past twelve months (experience)

  • Current certification given by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (experience)
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances (experience)
  • Ability to work varying shifts, on-call rotations, including nights and weekends (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert clinical guidance in a specialized field (Gynecology Oncology)
  • Coordinate patient care quality initiatives
  • Assist physicians in acute, short, and long-term care settings
  • Assess patients and treat injuries and ailments
  • Obtain thorough medical history from patients
  • Perform examinations and/or assessments to determine patient's needs
  • Analyze and interpret information collected from patients, medical records, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information
  • Develop and establish appropriate diagnoses
  • Round on patients to ensure care coordination and navigation
  • Work in collaboration with providers and independently to provide care
  • Formulate a plan for treatment of patients
  • Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized
  • Maintain complete and detailed records of patients' health care plans and prognoses in a timely manner
  • Consult with or refer patients to appropriate specialists when conditions exceed the scope of practice or expertise
  • Provide patients with information needed to promote health, reduce risk factors, or prevent disease or disability
  • Counsel patients and family members about self-management on prevention and treatment plans for health issues
