APP - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Hospitalist Service

Role Overview

Sanford Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Hospitalist Service team in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. As an integral part of our Adult inpatient setting, you will collaborate with the Hospitalist Physician team to provide comprehensive care to a diverse patient population at USD Medical Center. Day in the Life

As an APP within the Hospitalist Service, your day will be dynamic and patient-focused. Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or Baccalaureate degree (Associate’s or Nursing Degree if training prior to 1994) (experience)

  • Demonstrated current competence and provision of care, treatment, or services for at least 30 patients in the past twelve months or completion of an ARC-PA approved program in the past twelve months. (experience)
  • Successful completion of the national certifying examination and current certification given by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. (experience)
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances. (experience)
  • Knowledge of state legal regulations for advanced practice provider practices (experience)
  • Understanding of reimbursement of services (experience)
  • Familiarity with regulatory processes and payer systems such as Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and private sources (experience)
  • Extensive advanced knowledge of medical principles, practices and techniques (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Round on patients to ensure care coordination and navigation.
  • Work in collaboration with providers and independently to provide care.

  • Maintain complete and detailed records of patients' health care plans and prognoses in a timely manner.
  • Make necessary healthcare referrals.
  • Provide patients with information needed to promote health, reduce risk factors, or prevent disease or disability.
  • Counsel patients and family members about self-management on prevention and treatment plans for health issues, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances.
  • Participate in clinical research studies, as needed.
