APP - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant | Surgical Associates

Role Overview

Sanford Health is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Acute Care Surgery (ACS) team within the Surgical Associates Clinic in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This full-time position is ideal for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with a passion for providing exceptional care to emergency general surgery and trauma patients in the inpatient setting. As part of our collaborative team, you will work alongside attending general surgeons, other APPs, and surgical residents to deliver comprehensive and compassionate care.

A Day in the Life

As an APP on the ACS team, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing and managing patients with a variety of acute surgical conditions.
  • Performing physical examinations and ordering appropriate diagnostic tests.
  • Interpreting test results and developing treatment plans in collaboration with the surgical team.
  • Performing procedures such as wound care, line placements, and bedside ultrasounds.
  • Providing patient education and counseling.
  • Rounding on patients and documenting progress notes.
  • Participating in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

This position involves working four 10-hour shifts per week, with a weekend/holiday rotation. The schedule allows for a balance between work and personal life while ensuring continuous coverage for our patients.
