Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred (experience)
  • Minimum age of 16 (experience)
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred (experience)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing required (experience)
  • State certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement (experience)
  • CNA training and certification required (experience)
  • Ability to perform basic health care needs (experience)
  • Ability to assist with daily living activities (experience)
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control policies (experience)
  • Understanding of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use (experience)
  • Ability to document resident interactions and outcomes (experience)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff (experience)
  • Ability to follow instructions from registered nurses and other healthcare professionals (experience)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team (experience)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality (experience)
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion (experience)
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively (experience)
  • Ability to physically assist residents with mobility and transfers (experience)
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe environment for residents (experience)
  • Knowledge of resident rights and ethical considerations (experience)
  • Basic computer skills for documentation purposes (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and other personal care needs
  • Obtain and record vital signs accurately
  • Provide psychosocial support to residents
  • Assist residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment
  • Provide range of motion and passive exercises to residents
  • Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining
  • Assist residents with meals and snacks, providing water and supplements as appropriate
  • Aid providers and nursing staff members with procedures, if needed
  • Document resident interactions as needed and the outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary
  • Communicate residents' changing conditions and care related concerns/responses to the charge nurse
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational
  • Provide assistance and documentation with wellness and recreational programs and encourages residents to participate
  • Follow infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for residents
  • Report any safety hazards or concerns to the appropriate personnel
  • Participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions
  • Adhere to facility policies and procedures
  • Respect resident rights and maintain confidentiality
  • Provide compassionate and respectful care to all residents
  • Monitor residents for any signs of distress or changes in condition
  • Assist with ambulation and mobility
  • Encourage resident participation in activities
