## Gastroenterology Hospitalist at Sanford Health: Fargo, North Dakota ### Role Overview Sanford Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Gastroenterology Hospitalist to join our growing team in Fargo, North Dakota. This is an exciting opportunity to practice in a state-of-the-art, 583-bed tertiary/trauma hospital within a thriving and supportive environment. As a Gastroenterology Hospitalist, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders. The position offers a unique 14 days on/14 days off schedule, allowing for an excellent work-life balance. ### A Day in the Life On a typical day, you will be responsible for performing history and physical examinations, providing consultative services, evaluating and diagnosing gastrointestinal disorders, and providing nonsurgical care to adolescent and adult patients. You will perform endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopies, upper endoscopies, and ERCPs, utilizing our recently upgraded Olympus 190 series endoscopes. Collaboration is key, as you will participate in bi-weekly GI malignancy case conferences with oncology, radiation oncology, interventional radiology, surgery, and GI colleagues. You will also have the opportunity to perform endoscopy procedures during your off weeks for additional compensation, based on need. ### Why Fargo, North Dakota? The estimated salary range for this position is $350,000 to $550,000 annually. Required Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. degree (experience)
  • Successful completion of Internal Medicine residency program (experience)
  • Completion of a fellowship in Gastroenterology accredited by the ACGME or American Osteopathic Association (experience)
  • Board certified or board eligible in Gastroenterology (experience)
  • Demonstrated experience in gastroenterology procedures (experience)
  • Active involvement in a minimum of 50 gastroenterology cases in the last 12 months (experience)
  • Ability to perform history and physical examinations (experience)
  • Ability to provide consultative services (experience)
  • Ability to evaluate and diagnose gastrointestinal disorders (experience)
  • Ability to provide nonsurgical care to adolescent and adult patients with gastrointestinal illnesses (experience)
  • Experience with biopsies of the stomach, intestines, esophagus, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas (experience)
  • Advanced GI Fellowship Required (experience)
  • Eligible for medical licensure in North Dakota (experience)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (experience)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examinations on patients with gastrointestinal disorders.
  • Provide consultative services to other medical professionals regarding gastroenterology issues.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with illnesses, injuries, and disorders of the stomach, intestines, and related structures.
  • Perform endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, and ERCP.
  • Interpret and report endoscopic findings accurately and efficiently.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and imaging studies to aid in diagnosis.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with gastrointestinal disorders.
  • Prescribe medications and other therapies as needed.
  • Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
  • Participate in bi-weekly GI malignancy case conferences.
  • Admit patients to the hospital when necessary.
  • Provide on-call coverage for gastroenterology emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advances in gastroenterology.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
  • Provide education to patients and their families about gastrointestinal disorders and treatment options.
  • Supervise and mentor medical students and residents.
