  • Current Licensure by North Dakota Board of Nursing for Advanced Practice (experience)
  • DEA Permit to Prescribe Controlled Substances (experience)
  • Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (NP-C or FNP-BC) (experience)
  • Required Department-Specific Competencies and Certifications (experience)
  • Strong clinical skills (experience)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively (experience)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Provide service to patients in acute, short, and long-term care settings
  • Assist physicians in assessing patients and treating injuries and ailments
  • Obtain thorough medical history from patients
  • Perform examinations and/or assessments to determine patient's needs
  • Analyze and interpret patient information to develop appropriate diagnoses
  • Round on patients as necessary
  • Collaborate with providers and work independently to provide care
  • Formulate treatment plans for patients
  • Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost
  • Maintain complete and detailed patient records in a timely manner
  • Consult with or refer patients to specialists when necessary
  • Provide patients with information needed to promote health and prevent disease
  • Counsel patients and family members about self-management of health issues
  • Cover hospital consultations, rounding, and assist with patient procedures as needed
  • Conduct research into area of specialty and use findings to improve patient care
  • Incorporate evidence-based practice guidelines into care
  • Maintain current knowledge of state legal regulations for advanced practice provider practices
  • Keep abreast of regulatory processes and payer systems
