  • Utilize appropriate age and population-specific standards as designated in the assigned clinical setting.
  • Care for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Coordinate resident care.
  • Conduct resident assessments.
  • Provide resident education.
  • Perform various other nursing interventions.
  • Serve as charge nurse as needed.
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel within their job descriptions, skills, resident care needs, and competence level.
  • Provide adequate assistance and support to delegates to ensure safe, reliable administration of resident care.
  • Resolve care and service concerns.
  • Function within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure.
  • Adhere to the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitor vital signs and document observations accurately.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident records.
  • Respond to resident emergencies and provide necessary interventions.
  • Participate in resident care conferences and contribute to care planning.
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment for residents.
  • Follow infection control protocols and procedures.
  • Provide emotional support to residents and their families.
  • Advocate for the needs of residents.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.

  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
  • Document all care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
