A Bachelor’s degree is required. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an Associate’s degree and 5 years of applicable experience may be considered. A minimum of two years experience in clinical, nursing, healthcare safety, infection prevention, accreditation or healthcare management setting is also required.
Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC®) or equivalent is preferred.
Key responsibilities include surveillance of HAIs, data analysis and reporting, policy and procedure development, education and training, consultation, outbreak investigation, compliance monitoring, and performance improvement.
Essential skills include knowledge of infection control practices, microbiology, and epidemiology; data analysis skills; communication and interpersonal skills; critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
