LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Surgical Trauma - Rotating

Role Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Surgical Trauma unit at Sanford Health provides professional nursing care for patients of all ages. Working in a structured care setting, the LPN adheres to Sanford Health's policies and procedures while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient care. This role is crucial in supporting the nursing team and ensuring patients receive the necessary treatments and monitoring.

In this fast-paced environment, the LPN partners with a Registered Nurse (RN) to manage complex patient needs. The Surgical Trauma unit is comprised of a 44-bed unit and an additional 11-bed overflow unit with telemetry capabilities for adult patients. The unit provides care to a variety of patient populations, most frequently being surgical and trauma-related diagnoses. The unit works closely with several different surgeon groups and patients including general surgery, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, OB-GYN surgery, and bariatric surgery. The technical, hands-on skills of nursing are used every day on the unit, as most patients come with several tubes, lines, drains, and/or wound cares/dressing changes.
