Sanford Health is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant (MA) to join our hospice team at Centennial Cottage and Foundation Cottage in Fargo, North Dakota. This full-time night shift position offers the opportunity to provide comfort-focused, patient-centered care to individuals and families during one of the most meaningful stages of life. As an LPN or MA on our hospice team, you will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to support symptom management, emotional comfort, and dignity for every patient.

What are the required qualifications for this position?
The required qualifications include graduation from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or certification as a Medical Assistant (MA). You must also have a current and unencumbered LPN license in North Dakota or a compact state, or relevant MA certification. One year of professional nursing or medical assisting experience is preferred, and BLS certification is required. IV therapy certification/experience may be required depending on the position and location.
What are the main responsibilities of an LPN or MA in hospice care?
The main responsibilities include providing direct patient care, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, providing emotional support, educating patients and families, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, and documenting patient care accurately.
What is the patient-to-staff ratio in the hospice cottages?
The maximum patient ratio is 1:4, ensuring that you have adequate time to provide quality care to each patient.
Are there opportunities for self-scheduling?
Yes, self-scheduling is available, providing flexibility in managing your work schedule.

What are the shift hours and weekend/holiday requirements?
The cottages operate from 7 AM to 7 PM with rotating shifts. The position requires working every other weekend and holiday, with differentials offered for those shifts.
