## Medication Assistant (CMA/CNA) - Long Term Care - PRN - Canistota, SD ### Role Overview Sanford Health is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Medication Assistant (CMA/CNA) to join our Long Term Care team in Canistota, South Dakota. As a Medication Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to our residents, under the supervision of a charge nurse. This PRN (as needed) position offers a flexible work schedule and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents. This role requires both CMA and CNA certifications and offers an extra $2.50/hr location premium. ### A Day in the Life As a Medication Assistant, your day will be filled with opportunities to provide comfort, care, and support to our residents. Responsibilities

  • Delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per plan of care.
  • Assists with basic health care needs including daily living activities (bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing).
  • Obtains and records vital signs.
  • Provides psycho-social support and other personal care to assigned residents.
  • Assists residents in transferring, re-positioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment.
  • Provides range of motion and passive exercises.
  • Completes tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience for the resident.
  • Assists residents with meals and snacks; provides water and supplements as appropriate.
  • Administers prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and within their scope of practice.
  • Documents the outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary.
  • Communicates changing condition, medication follow-up, and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse.
  • Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs.
  • Provides housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational.
  • Provides assistance and documentation with wellness and recreational programs and encourages residents to participate.
  • May participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment for residents.
  • Follows infection control protocols.
  • Responds to resident calls and requests in a timely manner.
  • Reports any incidents or accidents to the charge nurse immediately.
  • Participates in resident care conferences as needed.
  • Attends required training and in-service programs.
