Occupational Therapist - Acute Care at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD

Role Overview

As an Occupational Therapist in our acute care setting, you'll play a vital role in helping patients regain their functional abilities and independence. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans to address their specific needs. You'll work closely with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.

A Day in the Life

Here’s what a typical day might look like:

  • 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM: Review patient charts and prepare for the day's schedule.
  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Conduct patient evaluations, including assessing their physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial abilities.
  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch break and documentation.
  • 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Implement occupational therapy interventions, such as therapeutic exercises, functional training, and adaptive equipment training.
  • 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM: Complete documentation, communicate with team members, and prepare for the next day.

You will also participate in Same Day Surgery rotation, which involves addressing patient needs in Same Day Surgery after normal hours. You will work approximately every 4th weekend and 2 holidays/holiday weekends per year.
