As a Pathologist at Sanford Health, you will play a crucial role in patient care by providing expert diagnostic services through the microscopic examination of tissue specimens, cell samples, and body fluids. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including radiologists, surgeons, and oncologists, to deliver comprehensive and personalized treatment plans. Applicants must have an M.D. or D.O. degree and be AP/CP Board Certified. Cytopathology or Breast subspecialty fellowship training is required, and additional surgical pathology fellowship training is preferred.
On-call duties are infrequent, approximately 5-6 weeks per year, and are considered non-burdensome/light. A pathology technician is also on-call 24/7/365 to provide support, including cutting frozen sections.
Research and teaching are not required but are available for those who are interested.
Pathologists receive a minimum of 6 weeks of time off in year 1, with vacation time increasing with additional years of service.

The pathology group is collegial and values integrity, honesty, teamwork, and communication. Work/life balance is a primary focus.
You will encounter a wide variety of complex and routine cases across organ systems, including rare/interesting cases.
