Physician - Pediatric Pulmonology - Sanford Health, Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Role Overview

Sanford Health, one of the largest and fastest-growing not-for-profit health systems in the United States, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Pediatric Pulmonologist to join our expanding pulmonology practice in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of the Sanford Children's Specialty Group and the Department of Pediatrics Sanford School of Medicine of the University of South Dakota. Day in the Life

As a Pediatric Pulmonologist at Sanford Health, your day will be diverse and engaging. You will be responsible for performing history and physical examinations, evaluating, diagnosing, and treating children, adolescents, and young adults with conditions, disorders, injuries, and diseases of the respiratory system. This includes managing patients with asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, pediatric sleep issues, and apnea, among other general pediatric pulmonary diseases.

You will collaborate with a team of 70+ pediatric sub-specialists in the Sanford Children’s Clinic and contribute to clinical research initiatives. You'll also participate in the CF Foundation’s Therapeutic Development Network. A typical day may involve:

  • Conducting outpatient clinic visits to evaluate and manage respiratory conditions.
  • Performing pulmonary function tests and interpreting results.
  • Performing bronchoscopies and other airway management procedures.
  • Consulting with other healthcare professionals on complex cases.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Providing education and support to patients and families.
  • Managing inpatient care for children with acute respiratory illnesses.
