Required Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school or college of nursing. (experience)
• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. (experience)
• Completion of pre-licensure nursing program with supervised clinical experience across the lifespan. (experience)
• Minimum of 400 hours of experience as an RN (or LPN) at another facility, if lacking supervised clinical experience. (experience)
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Minnesota. (experience)
• Licensure in states where patients reside, if performing nursing practice over the telephone. (experience)
• Certification may be required depending on specialty or service area. (experience)
• Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of Minnesota. (experience)
• Understanding of the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses as published by the American Nurses Association. (experience)
• Ability to demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge. (experience)
• Proficiency in utilizing age and population specific standards as designated in assigned clinical setting. (experience)
• Experience in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment. (experience)
• Ability to coordinate care, assess residents, and provide resident education. (experience)
• Experience with various nursing interventions. (experience)
• Ability to serve as charge nurse and delegate appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel. (experience)
• Strong assessment skills to evaluate the resident's condition and identify care needs. (experience)
• Ability to develop individualized care plans based on the resident's assessment. (experience)
• Knowledge of medication administration and potential side effects. (experience)
• Experience in documenting resident care accurately and timely. (experience)
• Understanding of infection control practices. (experience)
• Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations. (experience)
• Proficiency in using medical equipment and technology. (experience)
• Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations and guidelines. (experience)

Responsibilities

• Utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to residents.
• Collaborating with resident and family, other inter-disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement and evaluate care.
• Demonstrating competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge.
• Utilizing appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in assigned clinical setting.
• Caring for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Coordinating care, resident assessment, resident education and various other nursing interventions.
• Serving as charge nurse and delegating appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel.
• Providing adequate assistance and support to delegates to ensure safe, reliable administration of resident care and resolution of care and service concerns.
• Functioning within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure.
• Adhering to the Sanford Professional Nursing Practice, recognizing the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association.
• Assessing residents' physical, psychological, and social needs.
• Developing and implementing individualized care plans.
• Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitoring residents' vital signs and overall health status.
• Documenting resident care accurately and timely.
• Communicating with physicians, other healthcare professionals, and family members regarding resident care.
• Providing emotional support and education to residents and their families.
• Responding to emergencies and providing necessary interventions.
• Maintaining a safe and clean environment for residents.
• Participating in quality improvement initiatives.
• Staying up-to-date on current nursing practices and guidelines.
• Supervising and mentoring other nursing staff.
• Managing and coordinating resident admissions and discharges.
• Advocating for residents' rights and needs.
