Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. (experience)
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program required (AACN, ACEN, NLN CNEA). (experience)
  • Unencumbered RN license in South Dakota or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. (experience)
  • Department-specific licensure, competencies, and certifications. (experience)
  • Experience in infusion therapy preferred. (experience)
  • Knowledge of hematology and oncology principles. (experience)
  • Proficiency in medication administration techniques. (experience)
  • Understanding of patient safety protocols. (experience)
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems. (experience)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. (experience)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. (experience)
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. (experience)
  • Commitment to providing high-quality patient care. (experience)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. (experience)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to infusion patients.
  • Performing age-related patient assessments and interventions.
  • Scheduling tests and interventions per provider order.
  • Collaborating with physicians and other inter-professional colleagues to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Demonstrating competency and practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge.
  • Utilizing appropriate age and population-specific standards in the clinical setting.
  • Adhering to the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure.
  • Providing patient education and support related to infusion therapy.
  • Monitoring patients for adverse reactions and managing them appropriately.
  • Documenting patient care accurately and completely in the electronic health record.
  • Administering medications, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy, according to established protocols.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Attending continuing education programs to maintain professional competency.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Responding to emergent patient care situations requiring critical thinking and prompt assessment skills.
  • Prioritizing patient needs and managing time effectively.
  • Providing emotional support to patients and families.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
  • Managing central lines and ports according to established guidelines.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to a positive work environment.
  • Providing excellent customer service to patients and their families.
