Responsibilities

  • Utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to residents.
  • Collaborating with residents, families, and other inter-disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement, and evaluate care.
  • Demonstrating competency and practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge.
  • Utilizing appropriate age and population-specific standards in the assigned clinical setting.
  • Caring for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Coordinating care, performing resident assessments, providing resident education, and implementing various nursing interventions.
  • Serving as charge nurse and delegating appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel that are within the job descriptions, skills, resident care needs, and the competence level of the delegate.
  • Providing adequate assistance and support to delegates to ensure safe, reliable administration of resident care and resolution of care and service concerns.
  • Functioning within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of Minnesota.

  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to residents.
  • Collaborating with residents, families, and other inter-disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement, and evaluate care.
  • Demonstrating competency and practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge.
  • Utilizing appropriate age and population-specific standards in the assigned clinical setting.
  • Caring for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Coordinating care, performing resident assessments, providing resident education, and implementing various nursing interventions.
  • Serving as charge nurse and delegating appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel that are within the job descriptions, skills, resident care needs, and the competence level of the delegate.
  • Providing adequate assistance and support to delegates to ensure safe, reliable administration of resident care and resolution of care and service concerns.
  • Functioning within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of Minnesota.
  • Adhering to the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses as published by the American Nurses Association.
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitoring vital signs and observing residents for changes in condition.
  • Documenting resident care accurately and completely in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Responding to resident emergencies and providing appropriate interventions.
  • Assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean environment for residents.
  • Participating in care conferences and other meetings.
  • Providing emotional support to residents and their families.
  • Educating residents and families about health conditions and treatment plans.
  • Following infection control practices and procedures.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of resident information.
  • Participating in quality improvement activities.
  • Staying current with nursing best practices and continuing education.
  • Assisting with the admission and discharge of residents.
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team.
