Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA) (experience)

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA) (experience)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred (experience)
  • Minimum 18 years of age (experience)
  • Unencumbered RN license in the State of Nebraska or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state (experience)
  • 3 months experience in Long Term Care required (6 months preferred) (experience)
  • Current BLS certification (experience)
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems (experience)
  • Knowledge of nursing standards and practices (experience)
  • Understanding of patient safety protocols (experience)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team (experience)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to residents.
  • Collaborate with residents and families, other inter-disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement, and evaluate care.
  • Demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilize appropriate age and population-specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting.
  • Care for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Coordinate resident care, including assessment, education, and various nursing interventions.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitor and document resident vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatment.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of resident care plans.
  • Provide emotional support and education to residents and their families.
  • Serve as a charge nurse and delegate appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel within their job descriptions, skills, resident care needs, and competence level.
  • Provide adequate assistance and support to delegates to ensure safe, reliable administration of resident care and resolution of care and service concerns.
  • Function within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide necessary interventions.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe environment for residents.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance resident care.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of nursing trends and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Advocate for residents' rights and needs.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of residents' physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on assessment findings.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and make necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate resident care.
  • Educate residents and their families on disease processes, treatment options, and preventative measures.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols.
  • Monitor residents for adverse reactions to medications and treatments.
  • Document all care provided in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident care.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss resident progress and care planning.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Delegate tasks to certified nursing assistants (CNAs) and other assistive personnel as appropriate.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of CNAs and other assistive personnel.
  • Provide training and education to CNAs and other assistive personnel.
  • Respond to resident call lights and address their needs in a timely manner.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents.
  • Report any changes in resident condition to the physician or other healthcare professional.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities to enhance the quality of care provided.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety and respect in the workplace.
  • Participate in continuing education programs to maintain professional competence.
