Required Qualifications

• M.D. or D.O. degree required. (experience)
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Urogynecology or Urology. (experience)
• Completion of an Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency program or a Urology Residency program. (experience)
• Successful completion of a Fellowship program in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery accredited by the ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada. (experience)
• Experience in a wide range of surgical approaches in the management of urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and fecal incontinence. (experience)
• Skilled in vaginal, laparoscopic and abdominal approaches. (experience)
• Must be able to perform history and physical examinations. (experience)
• Ability to admit patients (if applicable to the setting). (experience)
• Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and treat female adolescent or adult patients presenting with injuries and disorders of the genitourinary system. (experience)
• Must provide consultation services. (experience)
• For recent fellowship graduates, a procedure log is required. (experience)
• For applicants not directly out of fellowship, a quality profile from a healthcare setting showing surgical activity for the past 12 months is required. (experience)
• Quality profile must include numbers of procedures, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. (experience)
• Applicants must demonstrate they have performed 50 female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgical procedures, reflective of the core privileges requested, in the past 12 months. (experience)
• More education and experience may be required as the practice becomes more advanced. (experience)
• Training at residency and fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA or Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada may be considered via waiver of eligibility process. (experience)
• Applicants may be considered if they have completed postgraduate training program in relevant medical specialty and have a received certification in urogynecology/female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. (experience)

Responsibilities

• Perform history and physical examinations on patients with genitourinary disorders.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat female adolescent or adult patients with injuries and disorders of the genitourinary system.
• Provide consultation services to other physicians and healthcare providers.
• Manage urinary incontinence through various surgical and non-surgical approaches.
• Manage pelvic organ prolapse using vaginal, laparoscopic, and abdominal surgical techniques.
• Manage fecal incontinence through appropriate surgical interventions.
• Perform a wide range of surgical approaches in the management of pelvic floor disorders.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physical therapists and integrated health coaches.
• Participate in research activities to advance knowledge in the field of urogynecology.
• Teach residents and medical students, contributing to their education and training.
• Participate in outreach activities to locations in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa.
• Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
• Adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in urogynecology and related fields.
• Participate in departmental meetings and committees.
• Ensure patient safety and satisfaction.
• Provide compassionate and patient-centered care.
• Admit patients if applicable to the setting.
• Maintain scope certification through the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
• Utilize robotics in surgical procedures, if trained.
