Role Overview

As a Scientist in Gilead's Bio Pivotal Structure group, you will play a pivotal role in the research and development of biologics targeting unmet medical needs. You will contribute to biochemical characterization and novel method development supporting clinical and commercial programs. Key Responsibilities

In this dynamic position, your contributions will directly impact Gilead's pipeline of innovative therapies. Key responsibilities include:

• Working as part of a team to support late-stage assay development of biophysical characterization methods such as circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC), size exclusion chromatography with multi-angle light scattering (SEC-MALS), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR).
• Contributing to analytical method development and qualification to support protein characterization activities.
• Supporting comparability and stability studies through higher order structure assessment.
• Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting advanced instruments including CD, DSC, AUC, SEC-MALS, and FTIR.
• Collaborating with junior and senior team members to advance cutting-edge techniques for substance, assay, and tool characterization.
• Representing the Bio Pivotal Structure group in cross-functional project teams and participating in process comparability studies.
• Conducting scientific research for drug candidates, advising on experiment planning with consideration for economic, regulatory, and safety factors.
• Presenting results, interpreting data, and maintaining familiarity with state-of-the-art scientific principles.

Qualifications & Requirements

• PhD in Chemistry or a related discipline with limited industry experience, OR MS degree with 4+ years of industry experience, OR BS degree with 6+ years of industry experience.
• Strong knowledge in mass spectrometry, experimental design, and assay development.
• Familiarity with biophysical techniques such as CD spectroscopy, DSC, AUC, SEC-MALS, FTIR, ultra-performance liquid chromatography, and proteolytic/chemical processing.
• Knowledge of ICH guidelines and GMP practices.

Experience in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and related fields is strongly desired. The role involves working on moderately complex problems, requiring intelligence, logic, ingenuity, and creativity.
