As a Scientist, Process Development at Gilead Sciences in Edmonton, Alberta, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the manufacturing of novel chemical substances. This full-time position demands technical expertise in organic chemistry, scientific creativity, and strong collaboration skills. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing robust chemical processes for drug substance production. You will demonstrate technical knowledge by planning, executing, and analyzing laboratory experiments to enhance production and quality attributes. Proposing alternative chemistries, such as new synthetic routes and step optimizations, will be central to your role. Regular updates to supervisors and strategic input on manufacturing projects are expected. Collaboration across functional areas like analytical chemistry, quality assurance, and manufacturing ensures project success. All work adheres to strict SOPs, prioritizing quality, safety, and environmental standards. You will also prepare essential technical documents, including research reports and Master Batch Records.
We seek candidates with a PhD in Organic Chemistry or a related discipline, though an MSc or BSc with substantial industry experience is considered. Essential knowledge includes planning and executing multi-step organic molecule synthesis, scaling up routes, and developing safe processes. Familiarity with purification methods and analytical tools such as HPLC, LCMS, and NMR is required. Strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and a passion for multidisciplinary teamwork are vital.
