Role Overview

CrowdStrike is seeking a self-starting, action-oriented Security Researcher, Data Ops (Remote) to join our Counter Adversary Operations team. In this critical role, you'll collect and analyze data from the cybercriminal underground to safeguard CrowdStrike customers' security and privacy. As an OPSEC-savvy, detail-oriented problem solver with a passion for data collection and analysis, you'll play a pivotal role in proactive threat detection. This remote position offers a disclosed salary range of $70,000 - $95,000 USD per year, with competitive upside, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete technical collections projects, including acquisition, monitoring, and analysis of deep and dark web data.
• Collect and ingest data from websites by developing scrapers and scripts to work with APIs and databases.
• Build, deploy, and maintain tools and services using Docker, Git, and automated pipelines.
• Investigate logs to identify and fix code issues, ensuring collection tools adapt to an evolving criminal ecosystem.
• Employ secure operational tradecraft methods and practices.
• Conduct proactive research into underground cybercriminal economies and threat actor exploitation of emerging technologies.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders across CrowdStrike’s global Counter Adversary Operations team.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need professional experience in cyber threat intelligence, open source intelligence (OSINT), or information security. Proficiency in Python for data extraction, web scraping, and database interactions is essential, along with familiarity with Docker, Git, HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, and logging tools like Splunk or Logscale. Open source tools such as pandas, requests, SQL, and BeautifulSoup are key. You should confidently navigate large datasets, perform exploratory data analysis with statistical methods, and adhere to OPSEC principles. Remote work in a collaborative environment across time zones is required.

Preferred qualifications include language expertise (e.g., Russian, Mandarin), intelligence community background, community engagement in CTFs or open source, experience with machine learning/LLMs, and a degree in cybersecurity, computer science, data science, or related fields.
