Join MongoDB as a Security Software Engineer, Infrastructure Security (Staff or Senior) and become a key guardian of the world's leading modern developer data platform. This critical role within our Site Reliability Engineering organization focuses on designing and building scalable security controls for MongoDB Atlas, the only globally distributed, multi-cloud database service spanning AWS, Azure, and GCP. Based in Dublin or remotely in Ireland, you'll protect compute, networking, and identity for nearly 60,000 customers including 75% of the Fortune 100.

MongoDB Atlas powers AI-native applications and modernizes legacy workloads with its cloud-native NoSQL architecture. As a security expert, you'll leverage cutting-edge technologies like eBPF, Kubernetes security primitives, and Linux kernel mechanisms to enforce runtime policies and deliver unparalleled visibility into system behavior.

Key Responsibilities at MongoDB

• Design and implement core security primitives that safeguard MongoDB Atlas infrastructure across multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Build secure-by-default infrastructure utilizing Linux security tools including AppArmor, SELinux, seccomp, and cgroups.
• Harness Kubernetes and eBPF to create runtime policy enforcement and deep behavioral monitoring for production systems.
• Develop robust APIs, automation, and tooling for Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), vulnerability scanning, and workload identity management at global scale.
• Engineer monitoring, logging, and alerting pipelines that integrate seamlessly with Grafana, Splunk, and Victoria Metrics.
• Embed security directly into CI/CD pipelines and Terraform IaC workflows, ensuring controls are versioned, reviewed, and deployed like production code.
• Lead complex, end-to-end security projects from problem discovery through design documentation, implementation, rollout, and ongoing ownership.
• Partner with SRE, platform engineering, and product teams to define secure architectures for emerging infrastructure and MongoDB services.
• Maintain the highest security standards for the most widely available, globally distributed NoSQL database platform.

Qualifications & Requirements

To excel in this Security Software Engineer role at MongoDB, you'll bring:

• 5+ years in Software Engineering, SRE, or equivalent with proven security experience.
• Strong proficiency in Golang, Rust, Python, Java, or C/C++ plus hands-on Terraform expertise for security automation.
• Deep knowledge of Linux kernel security, networking protocols, and their interplay in distributed systems.
• Proven track record building security platforms like runtime monitoring, CSPM solutions, or vulnerability management systems.
• Expertise with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) security services and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes security ecosystem: RBAC, OPA/Gatekeeper, Kyverno, Falco, Tetragon, and eBPF tooling.
• Systems engineering mindset balancing security with performance, observability, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Exceptional communication skills to articulate complex security tradeoffs to technical and executive stakeholders.
