Key Responsibilities at MongoDB

• Design and implement core security primitives that safeguard MongoDB Atlas compute, networking, and identity across multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Build secure infrastructure using Linux security mechanisms (AppArmor, SELinux, seccomp, cgroups), Kubernetes, and eBPF for runtime policy enforcement and system visibility.
• Develop APIs, automation, and tooling for managing security posture at scale, including CSPM, vulnerability management, and workload identity solutions.
• Create monitoring, logging, and alerting pipelines integrated with Grafana, Splunk, and Victoria Metrics for comprehensive observability.
• Embed security directly into CI/CD pipelines and Terraform infrastructure-as-code workflows for seamless, reviewed deployments.
• Lead complex, end-to-end security projects from discovery and design documentation to implementation and long-term ownership.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with SRE, platform, and product engineering to architect secure infrastructure for new MongoDB services.
• Drive innovation in runtime monitoring and multi-cloud security for the most widely adopted database platform.

Qualifications & Requirements

To excel as a Security Software Engineer at MongoDB, you'll bring:

• 5+ years in Software Engineering, SRE, or equivalent with proven security experience in production environments.
• Expertise in programming languages like Golang, Rust, Python, Java, or C/C++, plus Terraform for automating security configurations.
• Deep knowledge of Linux kernel, networking protocols, and how they integrate in distributed systems like MongoDB Atlas.
• Hands-on building security platforms: runtime monitoring, CSPM, vulnerability scanners, or identity management.
• Experience securing infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure, including best practices and native security services.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes security tools: RBAC, OPA/Gatekeeper, Kyverno, eBPF, Falco, Tetragon.
• Systems engineering mindset: balancing security with performance, reliability, observability, and scalability.
• Exceptional communication to explain complex security tradeoffs to technical and executive stakeholders.
