Join MongoDB as a Security Software Engineer, Infrastructure Security (Staff or Senior) and protect the world's leading modern developer data platform. This critical role within our Site Reliability Engineering team focuses on designing and building scalable security controls for MongoDB Atlas across multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). Based in Canada (Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, or remote), you'll ensure our globally distributed NoSQL database platform maintains the highest security standards while powering AI-native applications for 75% of Fortune 100 companies.

MongoDB Atlas, our cloud-native database, is the backbone for modern software innovation. As a Security Software Engineer, you'll leverage cutting-edge technologies like eBPF, Kubernetes security primitives, and Terraform IaC to create secure-by-default infrastructure that scales with our 60,000+ customers.

Key Responsibilities at MongoDB

• Design and implement core security primitives protecting MongoDB Atlas compute, networking, and identity across AWS, Azure, and GCP clouds.
• Build secure infrastructure using Linux security mechanisms (AppArmor, SELinux, seccomp, cgroups), Kubernetes, and eBPF for runtime policy enforcement and system visibility.
• Develop APIs, automation, and tooling for security posture management (CSPM), vulnerability scanning, and workload identity at enterprise scale.
• Create monitoring, logging, alerting pipelines integrated with Grafana, Splunk, and Victoria Metrics for real-time threat detection.
• Embed security directly into CI/CD workflows and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) for version-controlled, peer-reviewed deployments.
• Lead complex security projects end-to-end—from problem discovery and design documentation to implementation, rollout, and ongoing ownership.
• Collaborate with SRE, platform, and product engineering teams to architect secure-by-design infrastructure for new MongoDB services.
• Drive observability and operability alongside security, considering failure modes, performance, and scalability in distributed systems.

Qualifications & Requirements

We're seeking engineers with a systems mindset who excel in high-stakes environments. You might be perfect if you have:

• 5+ years in Software Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or security-focused roles with hands-on security experience.
• Proficiency in programming languages like Java, Golang, Rust, Python, or C/C++, plus Terraform for automating security configurations.
• Deep expertise in Linux kernel security, networking fundamentals, and their interplay in complex, distributed systems.
• Proven experience building security platforms like runtime monitoring, CSPM, or vulnerability management systems.
• Hands-on with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) security services and best practices.
• Kubernetes security ecosystem experience: RBAC, OPA/Gatekeeper, Kyverno, eBPF, Falco, Tetragon.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex security tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This role requires working standard East Coast business hours from Canada offices or remotely.
