Key Responsibilities at MongoDB

  • Own end-to-end monthly revenue close: Conduct detailed reviews of complex revenue contracts and prepare comprehensive accounting write-ups for management and audit review.
  • Provide technical guidance during negotiations: Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Professional Services, Legal, and Deal Strategy teams to evaluate contract terms and recommend optimal revenue accounting structures.
  • Support audit and compliance activities: Collaborate with external auditors, internal controls teams, and SOX compliance groups to validate revenue recognition practices.
  • Drive system implementations: Participate in ERP (NetSuite) and CRM (Salesforce) enhancements focused on revenue reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain SOX-compliant controls: Document, test, and refine internal controls over financial reporting for revenue recognition processes.
  • Prepare external reporting: Create detailed revenue flux analysis and support quarterly forecasting for investor communications.
  • Execute ad hoc projects: Tackle special initiatives including technical accounting research, process automation, and M&A revenue integration.
  • Enable business growth: Articulate complex ASC 606 accounting impacts to non-finance stakeholders during high-velocity deal cycles.
  • Contribute to team innovation by leveraging MongoDB's database technology for enhanced financial analytics.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed in this Senior Accountant, Technical Revenue role at MongoDB, candidates must demonstrate:

  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline. CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • Industry Experience: Minimum 3+ years in revenue accounting within fast-paced technology or SaaS environments.
