Our Professional Services (PS) team accelerates customer time-to-value through MongoDB adoption scenarios including new solution development, legacy application modernization, and cloud migrations to MongoDB Atlas – the only truly global multi-cloud database platform available on AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure. As a Senior Consulting Engineer, you'll ensure organizations maximize MongoDB's flexible document model, operational simplicity, and developer productivity.
This flexible-level position (Consulting Engineer to Senior) demands 8+ years of software development/consulting experience, deep MongoDB expertise, programming proficiency in Java/Python/Node.js/Go/Ruby, and enterprise database experience. Frequent short-term customer site visits during weekdays are required.
Key Responsibilities at MongoDB
- Lead customer projects across the full application lifecycle: portfolio evaluation, application planning/design, deployment architecture, development/build, integration/release, system testing, production operations, and optimization
- Deliver hands-on classroom training to customer architects, developers, and operations teams
- Collaborate within extended delivery teams including consulting engineers, project managers, and account executives
- Build your personal MongoDB brand as a trusted technical advisor guiding customer digital transformation
- Influence MongoDB product roadmaps through field feedback to Product and Engineering teams
- Master "everything MongoDB" to communicate complex technical proposals to diverse stakeholders
- Maintain billable utilization while ensuring 100% customer project success
- Drive MongoDB adoption across greenfield builds, legacy modernizations, and cloud migrations
- Provide Linux diagnostics/tuning expertise for enterprise-scale deployments
Qualifications & Requirements
- 8+ years software development/consulting/technical support experience (multi-industry preferred)
- Expertise in Java, Python, Node.js (JavaScript), Ruby, or Go
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB, Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL
- Linux diagnostics and tuning proficiency (Windows experience advantageous)
- Enterprise software architecture, Agile/DevOps methodologies, deployment/operations mastery
- Proven analytical/problem-solving skills with customer-facing success
- Excellent presentation/communication in collaborative environments
- Comfortable with frequent short-term customer site visits
