Role Overview

As Assistant Controller, you'll oversee accounting operations, financial close processes, SOX compliance, and global statutory reporting. Partnering with our Finance Systems team, you'll modernize processes through automation and system enhancements, ensuring our financial infrastructure scales with MongoDB's rapid growth as the leading NoSQL database platform.

This role reports to the Controller and collaborates across FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Internal Audit teams. You'll be the key point of contact for auditors and stakeholders, delivering precise financial reporting that supports MongoDB's mission to empower innovators with the MongoDB Atlas cloud platform.

Key Responsibilities at MongoDB

• Lead Global Financial Close: Drive monthly/quarterly close processes and support corporate reporting with velocity and accuracy
• Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Maintain US GAAP compliance, SOX controls, and timely global statutory reporting
• Modernize Accounting Operations: Implement automation, process improvements, and ERP system upgrades (Netsuite/SAP)
• Manage Audit Processes: Serve as primary contact for internal/external auditors, ensuring efficient delivery of requests
• Build High-Performing Teams: Provide leadership, mentorship, and career development for global accounting staff
• Drive Process Excellence: Standardize general ledger processes and eliminate technical debt across distributed teams
• Stakeholder Partnership: Collaborate with CFO organization and cross-functional leaders on special projects
• Risk Management: Design and enhance internal controls over financial reporting
• Operational Leadership: Roll up sleeves for account reconciliations and deliverable inspections

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed as MongoDB's Assistant Controller, you'll bring:

• Active CPA license (or international equivalent) required
• 15+ years progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and global team leadership
• Expert ERP proficiency in Netsuite, SAP, or Oracle financial systems
• Proven automation experience scaling accounting functions through technology
• SOX compliance expertise with strong internal controls background
• Exceptional communication skills to influence executives and explain complex concepts simply
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
