Senior Fullstack Engineer - Atlas Growth at MongoDB
Join the MongoDB Atlas Growth team as a Senior Fullstack Engineer in New York City and shape the future of the modern developer data platform. Atlas Growth guides customers through their entire app development journey—from initial cluster configuration and data modeling to production workloads at scale. Our in-house experiments platform enables rapid feature validation, ensuring we only release customer-impacting work.
Role Overview
The Senior Fullstack Engineer - Atlas Growth role sits within MongoDB's core engineering organization, building foundational elements of our developer data platform. You'll work in cross-functional squads with product, design, analytics, and research teams, focusing on key metrics like retention. Recent projects include personalized Atlas landing pages, database performance recommendation systems, and conversion-optimized pricing pages.
Senior engineers lead complex projects, mentor teammates, and drive technical direction. This hybrid New York City role requires proactive improvement suggestions across product, processes, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities at MongoDB
- Lead end-to-end fullstack development for customer-facing Atlas features
- Write comprehensive scope and technical specification documents
- Lead small working groups of 2-3 engineers on major projects
- Provide thorough code reviews and technical documentation feedback
- Take ownership of specific domains and create/executes improvement roadmaps
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through informal guidance
- Participate in on-call rotations shared across all Growth teams
- Collaborate with PMs to assess project feasibility and shape long-term roadmaps
- Build and optimize MongoDB Atlas features using TypeScript, JavaScript, and backend languages
Qualifications & Requirements
- 6+ years software engineering experience, preferably fullstack
- Fluency in TypeScript and JavaScript for frontend/backend development
- Proficiency in Java, Go, C++/C, or similar compiled languages
- Experience writing database queries and indexes (document or relational)
- Demonstrated experience writing/reviewing technical specifications
- Interest in A/B testing, product design, and experimentation platforms
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration architecture
- Proven track record designing/releasing/monitoring complex features
- Comfortable with on-call rotations and production support
