Key Responsibilities at Datadog

As a Senior Product Manager for Telemetry Optimization, you'll drive strategic and hands-on impact:

• Own the strategy for a unified governance and fleet control plane covering agent lifecycle, scale configuration, upgrades, and policy enforcement. Partner across SRE, Platform, Security, Finance, Product, Support, and GTM teams.
• Define and track success metrics linking governance to outcomes like controlled ingest, reduced cardinality, faster investigations, and predictable bills. Publish dashboards and stakeholder reviews.
• Ship visual pipeline experiences for sampling, filtering, redaction, enrichment, routing, and retention—complete with simulation, staged rollouts, and audit trails.
• Introduce usage-aware governance featuring utility scoring, team-level quotas, budgets, caps, and alerts to align costs with business value.
• Enable source-side optimizations like edge processing and pre-aggregation, backed by measurable reduction targets and clear ROI demonstrations.
• Deliver APIs and tooling for seamless CI/automation integration of fleet and pipeline changes, including safe approval workflows.
• Ensure secure, auditable operations with role-based access controls for fleet actions, upgrades, and troubleshooting—defaulting to least privilege.
• Support diverse ecosystems including Datadog Agents, OTel collectors, and Observability Pipelines, pragmatically promoting standards that reduce friction.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Solutions, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Support on rollouts, pricing, enablement, and adoption strategies.

Qualifications & Requirements

Datadog seeks proven leaders passionate about observability and telemetry. Key qualifications include:

• 6+ years as a Product Manager in data platforms, observability, or infrastructure, with hands-on experience owning agent lifecycle and configuration at large scale.
• Deep understanding of telemetry signals and pipelines, plus familiarity with Datadog Agent, Fluent Bit, Vector, or equivalents.
• Proven ability to balance data utility (completeness, freshness), security (PII/redaction), and cost in real-time streaming pipelines.
• Experience delivering/operating rehydration, tiering, or archive patterns, or similar storage lifecycle features.
• Demonstrated work on usage-aware cost controls like quotas, budgets, utility scoring, and FinOps partnerships proving ROI.
• Comfort with Kubernetes and large fleet operations, including staged rollouts, automation, and incident-safe changes.
• Knowledge of data protection in pipelines: PII obfuscation, redaction, tokenization, compliance workflows.
• Exceptional communicator crafting crisp PRDs and migration playbooks, partnering with enterprise admins, security leaders, SREs, and engineers.
