This high-impact role focuses on transforming existing Atlas customers into power users by guiding them toward new environments, applications, and larger workloads. You'll convert ambiguous growth potential into precise product bets, seamless human experiences, and scalable self-serve expansion strategies that propel MongoDB's NoSQL database platform upmarket.

Partnering closely with Design, Engineering, Data Science, Marketing, Sales, and Marketing Ops, you'll own a single unflinching metric: account expansion growth. This hybrid role is based in New York City or available remotely from central/east United States locations including Austin Texas, Boston Massachusetts, Chicago Illinois, Dallas Texas, Houston Texas, Miami Florida. As a leader in MongoDB's modern developer data platform, you'll redefine how developers scale cloud-native databases across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.

MongoDB Atlas, the world's most widely available globally distributed multi-cloud database, powers 75% of Fortune 100 companies and AI-native startups. Your work will directly contribute to modernizing legacy workloads, embracing innovation, and unleashing AI applications built on our unified database platform.

Key Responsibilities at MongoDB

  • Own the complete Expansion product strategy and roadmap: Define customer segments, growth journeys, and experiments to maximize account expansion revenue.
  • Ship frictionless features for multi-app and multi-team organizations, including project cloning, streamlined user invites/roles, org-to-project patterns, and workload templates.
  • Build intelligent digital nudges: Create smart prompts, upgrade paths, in-app moments, email triggers, and sophisticated journey orchestration keeping MongoDB top-of-mind for next workloads.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing on lifecycle campaigns and Data Science on advanced targeting models (propensity to expand, workload detection, cohort health).
  • Instrument comprehensive analytics: Set up clear events, funnels, and cohort views; deliver weekly insights driving conversion optimization.
  • Align digital expansion with enterprise sales: Partner with Sales & Customer Success for clean handoffs on sales-worthy accounts while maintaining self-serve growth for most customers.
  • Champion enterprise-grade quality: Build for reliability, permissions, compliance, and organizational hygiene so large customers trust Atlas for every new application.
  • Drive measurable business impact: Turn growth potential into crisp product decisions that scale MongoDB Atlas across developer platforms worldwide.
  • Leverage developer experience expertise to create intuitive tools that make scaling NoSQL databases effortless for modern engineering teams.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed as a Senior Product Manager at MongoDB, you'll bring:

  • 3-5+ years B2B SaaS product management experience, ideally in product-led growth (PLG) with proven expansion, monetization, or retention track record.
  • Technical engineering background in computer science, electrical engineering, or software engineering.
  • Data mastery: Expertise in cohorts, revenue metrics (MRR, GRR), funnel analysis, experimentation; ability to distinguish correlation from causation.
  • Platform product experience: Comfort with infrastructure products, developer tools, and modern developer experiences.
  • Strong communication skills: Write clean, concise documentation; align cross-functional teams; make decisions with incomplete information.
  • Business acumen: Data-driven mindset understanding customer resonance and long-term product impact measurement.

Nice to have: Experience with developer platforms, data infrastructure, cloud services, lifecycle marketing, journey orchestration, or in-app messaging systems.
