Key Responsibilities at MongoDB

• Architect and build mongosync, the essential tool for MongoDB cluster synchronization and migration to Atlas
• Develop and maintain MongoDB Database Tools – CLI utilities for import/export, diagnostics, and deployment management
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, support teams, and engineers to deliver features customers love
• Mentor junior engineers and drive team growth through code reviews and technical leadership
• Design scalable solutions for data replication, distributed transactions, and fault tolerance
• Lead implementation of major features and bug fixes in production-grade distributed systems
• Optimize performance for high-throughput database syncing in enterprise environments
• Contribute to disaster recovery and backup solutions for mission-critical MongoDB deployments
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 reliability of customer-facing tooling

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed in this Senior Software Engineer role, you'll need:

• 5+ years designing, building, testing, and maintaining industrial-strength software at scale
• Hands-on experience building databases or core data processing systems
• Deep expertise in distributed systems: replication, transactions, scalability, fault tolerance
• Proficiency in compiled languages (C++, Rust, Java) with strong interest in Go programming
